LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is a LEGO themed action-adventure game using characters from the DC comics universe. It was developed by Traveller’s Tale and published by Warner Bros. Interactive.

Story and Gameplay

In this new installment of LEGO Batman, Brainiac is the main villain. Batman and his Justice League friends have to venture into deep space and fight this evil genius. On their way, they will meet other significant characters like The Joker, Lex Luthor, and others from the Legion of Doom.

The single player mode provides the story world. As you progress through the story, you will confront friends and foes from the DC comics universe. You can use your controller to fight your enemies and break obstacles. There are also an impressive number of puzzles to solve. The gameplay provides a palette of action, adventure, and cool mental challenges. It can satisfy your inner child’s need for fast-moving objects and interesting problems to solve.

In the two-player mode, you can use a split screen to play side by side. One thing missing from LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham is it’s predecessors open world. Even though there are 150 DC characters to meet and scores of puzzles to solve, the limited world makes it feel restricted than the previous games.

Vivid Colors and Characters

The massive world of LEGO Batman 3 keeps the game interesting. You never know when you will meet Wonder Woman or Superman. The game also allows you to play as lesser known characters. It is fun to try out the forgotten heroes of the DC comics. However, Daffy Duck as Green Loontern feels like an overstretch. Also, Conan O’Brien makes a cameo as himself which is fun at first but gets stale in the later parts of the game.

Visually the LEGO world of the DC comics makes an impression. The characters are well-done. You wouldn’t have any trouble recognizing the famous ones. There are lots of dialog throughout the game. The Batcave, the WatchTower, and the Batmobiles are all great sites and features to explore.

Conclusion

LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham is fun to play. It might be challenging for younger players as the controls are not well coordinated and the puzzles are difficult. Also, the tonality of the game changes quite fast from serious to comical. It feels shaky sometimes. But if you are a DC comics fan, you should still enjoy the game. It provides you the opportunity to interact with your favorite characters in a colorful and fun setting.
